Over the years, several students have participated in Boys Grow. The organization is built around an "applied learning" model and uses a small business and a small farm to instill business and community principles to its 13-16 year old entrepreneurs. We are grateful to community supporter Renato Coleman, employed at Bell Bank Mortgage, who chose to "Pay It Forward" and donate to the Kauffman School Athletics program.
Congrats to 9th grade student Aniyah who ran her first 5K race at a September cross country meet and placed FIRST in that race.
The boys basketball team had the opportunity of having an professional trainer, Pep Stanciel, come and do some skill development; Pep has trained several NBA players and top collegiate recruits as well. Can't wait to have Pep back for more clinics like this!
Summer Bridge at UMKC is an excellent early-start college program that we know supports our scholars. Alumni Khalil and Samaia both kicked off their college experience this summer by taking two classes. Additionally, they were able to start building connections with their college classmates.
We have expanded our school gardens to 10 beds! Thanks to our partnership with KC Community Gardens, we are excited for our EMKS garden to provide nourishment for our community!
