Re-enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year opened March 1, 2025! Complete re-enrollment by the priority deadline of April 1 to secure your student's spot and earn a free t-shirt that your student can wear instead of their uniform shirt for the rest of the year.

Re-enrollment is a required process through which current EMKS families confirm their intent to keep their student enrolled at the Kauffman School for the upcoming year. All families are required to complete online re-enrollment each year and update their student’s contact information, health information, transportation needs, and more.

To re-enroll:

Gather your documents (two Proofs of Residency dated within the last 30 days plus updated immunization records) and choose a time you will have 20-30 minutes to work on re-enrollment.
Visit http://kauffmanschool.schoolmint.net
Log in to your SchoolMint account. Use the “Forgot Username?” or “Forgot Password?” options if needed. You should not create a new account.
On the Student Dashboard click “Returning” or “Not Returning” by your student’s name.
You will then be taken back to the Student Dashboard where you will click RE-ENROLL under “Actions” by your student’s name.
1. You will be taken to a page to confirm your account information.
2. You will then be taken to a list of forms. Click on each form and fill out all the information requested.
3. As part of the forms to complete, you will be asked to upload a recent Proof of Residency and updated immunization records.
Once all forms are done, click “Submit.” If you must stop before all the forms are complete and all documents are uploaded click “Save and Continue Later” at any time.
Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 for each student you have enrolled at EMKS.

What do I need to do for Proof of Residency?

What is Proof of Residency?

Per Missouri Charter Law, all students enrolled in Kauffman School are required to reside in the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS) District boundaries. These proofs of residency must be ones that are in the name of the parent/legal guardian and must be from the list of acceptable documents. Proof of residency must be submitted for every enrolled student, every school year.

What if I have multiple EMKS students?

Each of your students will need Proof of Residency submitted, but you are welcome to submit the same documents for multiple students if they share an address and a guardian.

What types of documents work for Proof of Residency?

If you rent or own housing and the lease, mortgage or deed are in your (the guardian's) name, you will be asked to submit two documents from the list below:

· Rental agreement/lease
· Deed
· Mortgage statement
· Water bill
· Gas bill
· Electric bill

Utilities must be dated within the past 30 days, in the name of the parent/legal guardian, and the "service at" address must match your in-district address. Bills cannot read "final bill."

If your family stays with another family member or friend and the bills are in their name instead of your name, you will submit three documents. The first two proofs of residency must be in the name of the homeowner or person listed on the lease:

· Rental agreement/lease
· Deed
· Mortgage statement
· Water bill
· Gas bill
· Electric bill

Utilities must be dated within the past 30 days, in the name of the parent/legal guardian, and the "service at" address must match your in-district address. Bills cannot read "final bill."

Then, for your third proof of residency, please submit one of the following documents in the name of the parent or guardian:
· Driver's license
· W2
· Paycheck (last 30 days)
· Utility bill (last 30 days)
· Car insurance statement (last 30 days (NOT an ID card)
· Loan paperwork (last 30 days)
· Court paperwork (last 30 days)
· Government paperwork (last 30 days)
· Bank statement (last 30 days)
· Cable bill (last 30 days)
· Phone bill (last 30 days)

What do I need to submit for immunizations?

EMKS is required to maintain updated immunization records for all students in attendance. You are asked to upload your student's complete immunization record as part of re-enrollment. Once uploaded and submitted, the school nurse will process all records and will contact you if your child is non-compliant with immunizations. There are two vaccinations that will likely be required of your student during their time at EMKS that need to be reflected in their immunization records: Tdap and MCV before eighth grade, and a second dose of MCV before 12th grade. When is the latest I can submit re-enrollment?

EMKS requests all families re-enroll by April 1. This deadline gives us time to verify your re-enrollment and reach out to you if we have any questions, and gives us an approximate headcount for student enrollment for the upcoming year. Knowing how many students will return is incredibly important for us to be able to plan how many new students we will enroll, how many new teachers we may need to hire, and how many classes to offer in each grade.

There may be circumstances that delay your ability to re-enroll by April 1. We will offer a grace period of April and May for families who have stated their intention to re-enroll but need support to do so. Families not enrolled by the end of the school year may be withdrawn and lose their seat for the upcoming year.

What if my student won't be coming back to EMKS, or we're not sure yet?

Our EMKS team believes deeply in what we can accomplish together when your student stays with us from middle school through high school graduation (and beyond). We encourage you to reach out to us immediately and directly if you have concerns about your student's success at EMKS so we can create a plan to support you and your student with the goal of you staying enrolled with us.

Unfortunately, we know that circumstances sometimes change -- the most frequent reason students do not return to EMKS is that their family has moved out of KCPS district boundaries. If that is the case, please select "Not Returning" in SchoolMint. You will not have to complete additional paperwork, and we will know to stop following up.

If you are truly not sure at the time of re-enrollment what your plans are for the fall, we encourage you to complete re-enrollment anyway to secure your student's spot and to reach out to us to let us know about your uncertainty. For instance, if your family has applied for housing in Kansas, but aren't sure yet if you will move, please reach out to let us know this and when you will make your decision but complete re-enrollment anyway so that your student can continue at EMKS if they stay in Kansas City.

What's the difference between "complete" and "verified" status for re-enrollment?

Once a family completes all re-enrollment forms online and click submit, their re-enrollment status will be "complete." April 1 is the priority deadline is for re-enrollment to be "complete."

As we receive re-enrollments, our team will go through the process of verification, where we review what each family has submitted and verify that their re-enrollment is complete. This includes reviewing proofs of residency and immunizations to ensure that the correct documents have been uploaded. If we have questions or need additional information from you, we will reach out to you directly at this point.

Verification will happen on a rolling basis through the spring and summer. Please reach out if you have any questions about your re-enrollment file.

How do I get re-enrollment help?

We know some families may need support to complete online re-enrollment. We encourage all families to attempt to re-enroll on their own first, but to not hesitate to reach out if stuck. Depending on the number of re-enrollment support requests, it may take us a few days to get back to you. Your student will not lose their spot at EMKS if you are waiting for support. When do I get my re-enrollment t-shirt?

All students who have re-enrolled by the priority deadline of April 1 will receive their re-enrollment t-shirt during the first two weeks of April. T-shirts will be delivered to students directly. These shirts can be worn any day of the week as part of the school uniform, meaning a student can wear this shirt instead of a polo but should still wear khakis and follow other school uniform guidelines.

If your student re-enrolls after April 1, re-enrollment shirts will be distributed as timing and inventory allows. Please re-enroll before April 1 to guarantee your student receives their free t-shirt.
